The charm, history and unique mystique of Hostalric, together with the geographical location (Girona and Barcelona are 40 and 60 km respectively) and communications (exit 10 motorway A7 and stops R2 north and R11 of the railway line Barcelona Portbou) make up an ideal space as a cinematographic and television set.

Hostalric Tourism Office provides a broad range of high-quality services for both national and international audiovisual productions filmed in Hostalric in order to facilitate the necessary information for planning, enabling and producing work under the best conditions.

Procedures for filming · Municipal authorizations

All production companies interested in filming in Hostalric require authorization. To obtain authorization, production companies must fill out an application form and return it to Hostalric’s Town Council.

Upon receipt of the application form, Hostalric Tourism Office will submit it to the municipal authorities to consider its viability and carry out the necessary legal procedures for obtaining authorization. Hostalric Tourism Office will monitor and coordinate the project in order to guarantee the completion of the process by the different municipal departments involved.

Filming fees. The costs of filming in the town are based on the taxes established in municipal bylaws.

Locations

Listed as a Cultural Asset of National Interest (1963), the town of Hostalric is one of the major monumental sites of medieval Catalonia and is presided over by an imposing 18th century military fortress. Both location are part of the Catalunya Film Comissionand the Costa Brava Girona Convention Bureau.

The latest films to be shot in Hostalric are ‘El legado de los huesos’ (2019), ‘Los herederos de la Tierra’ (2020) and ‘Un año, una noche’ (2021).
