You can visit Hostalric Castle by taking a guided tour with an accredited local guide who will accompany you in the discovery of this imposing fortress that played a key role in different episodes of Catalonia’s history.
The guided tour, lasting approximately 1h 30 mins, will help you understand how a medieval castle evolved into a modern fortress How did it come about? What construction system is used? What are the typical defensive elements of this fortification?
The local guides will show you the most emblematic areas of the Hostalric Castle Fortress and you will be able to access the Cavaller room, a space in the old castle of the Viscounts of Cabrera, where you’ll hear the most surprising anecdotes about the history of this building. This is the finest room in the whole castle and, to preserve its splendour, it is only accessible with a guide. The visit ends in the bailey, from where you can enjoy an excellent panorama from the top of the basalt stone hill on which the castle stands: the Montseny massif, Montsoriu Castle and the Montnegre-Corredor mountain range.
