Year after year, Hostalric becomes a medieval town on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Holy Week, with a large market, characters and activities reminiscent of this period. The Hostalric Medieval Festival aims to commemorate the splendour of the town’s medieval past, that was the centre of the extensive Viscounty of Cabrera.
The festival is mainly celebrated in two locations: the Fortress and the town’s medieval quarters. The latter becomes a large crafts and food market, where you can find the most authentic cold meats, hand-crafted sweets, cheeses and a variety of food options, as well as other products and attractions. The stalls are located along the Carrer Raval and in all the Carrer Major, from the Frares Tower to the Porta de Barcelona.
At the Fortress, you will find the medieval camp, the exhibition of artefacts and elements of the period. Guided tours of the monument and extended openning times are offered during this period.
Activities are also significant during the festival, and throughout the day children’s workshops, theatrical performances, demonstrations of trades or music will take place. Check de program.
During the days of the Fair, the City Council of Hostalric will enable a parking for motorhomes (without services) in the sports area. It is essential to book in advance through this form. Limited places and in strict order of registration.
